PICTORIAL HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES AND TERRITORIESSize: 3" x 5" or 5" x 3" This is a series of 50 cards, numbered from 1 to 50 on the back of each card near the top center. The front of each card is a multi-colored illustration, in either horizontal (30 cards) or vertical (20 cards) format, which includes various scenes depicting the history of a particular state or territory. The back of each card contains only text in a horizontal format, printed in a shade of blue. The left third contains identical text explaining the benefits of grinding your coffee at home. The remainder of the back contains the name of the state or territory depicted, a brief history of the area, and a description of the scenes depicted on the front of the card. (See example). I have not (so far) noticed any varieties amongst the cards in this series. NOTE: Although these cards bear an Arbuckle copyright, at least two of the designs (District of Columbia and Pennsylvania) were used (and copyrighted again) in 1908, for postcards produced by R.M. Donaldson, the successor to Donaldson Bros. CLICK ON ANY THUMBNAIL TO VIEW FULL SIZE CARD
